Director of Wellness
Alyssa Johnson has a master’s degree in Oriental Medicine and while at Duke University she completed an Integrative Health leadership program. Prior to Innercept, Alyssa spent 5 years coordinating the Integrative Medicine Program at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Additionally, Alyssa has many years’ experience in private practice with a focus on pain management and women’s health. Working with children that experienced chronic and serious health issues, and their families, fueled Alyssa’s passion for supportive natural healing therapies and working with adolescents and young adults. Alyssa promotes the need to understand all the factors that may affect a person’s dis-ease in order to facilitate a long term healing process.
At Innercept, Alyssa loves that she gets to spend quality time with the students in their residential environments. Facilitating cooking groups, local wellness outings and conducting individual sessions gives her a well-rounded understanding of and insight into the student’s behaviors, personalities and growth potential. Alyssa’s knowledge and skills in acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage therapy, aromatherapy and mind/body balance coupled with her warm, positive nature compliments Innercept’s wellness initiatives.
When not taking care of her young daughter, Alyssa enjoys making stained glass windows and welding yard art, hiking or running outdoors and drinking a nice cup of tea while reading a good book.
