Denise graduated from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa with her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Recreational Therapy. After graduation she moved to Terrell Texas to work at the State Hospital, specializing on the Psycho-social Rehabilitation unit working with children and adolescents. After living and working in Texas for a few years, she moved to Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho and began working with the Geriatric population as the Director of Activities on an Alzheimer’s unit and then at an Extended Living Facility. After working with this population for several years, she accepted a position as a Recreational Therapist at Kootenai Medical Center working with children and adolescents on their Youth Acute and Residential units, where she remained for 12 years.
During this time, Denise went back to school to become a Massage Therapist, graduating from The American Institute of Clinical Massage in Post Falls, Idaho in 2000. While continuing to work at the hospital, she also enjoyed her new found passion of massage, energy work and natural essential oils, which she enjoys to this day. In January of 2013, Denise joined the Innercept Team. She has worked at most of the campuses at Innercept, but found her strength was in working at the intensive level of the program.
Working with people is a strong passion in Denise’s life, as well as all animals and anything that involves the outdoors, recreation and sports. Denise continues to study and work in many aspects of body work, massage and natural healing, as well as volunteer her time working with the Idaho Meth project.
