Julie graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from George Mason University in Northern Virginia in 1996. She immediately began her Master’s program in Boston, and finished at the University of Idaho. She obtained her Master of Education in Counseling and Human Services with a School Counseling focus and simultaneously obtained a second Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She has worked in a variety of settings, including a hospital residential adolescent program, a Medicaid clinic, public schools, and a non-profit organization which allowed Julie to hone her skills in working with varied populations, with a multitude of diagnoses.
Julie became a Licensed Professional Counselor for the state of Idaho in 2010. She worked in private practice before coming to Innercept. In 2014, she became a Certified Designated Examiner for the state of Idaho, working as a contractor for Region 1 Mental Health.
As a therapist at Innercept, Julie provides individual and family therapy to the residents and their families on a full time basis. Julie utilizes a variety of approaches to help the residents including, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She has extensive experience in assessment, treatment planning, case management and crisis intervention. She has also gained valuable experience in court by preparing court reports and testifying at commitment hearings as a Designated Examiner.
In her free time Julie enjoys spending quality time with her two children and is an avid swimmer.
