Makeila grew up in a small town in Washington. In high school she was part of a Leadership Program and after graduating, attended Eastern Washington University majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. During her Sophomore year, she moved to Richland, Washington where she became a Home Care Aid and a certified Medical Technician. While continuing her education at Columbia Basin College, she worked as a Lead Medical Technologist at a Memory Care Dementia and Alzheimer facility. She moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and began working at another Dementia and Alzheimer facility. When she heard of Innercept, she was excited to work with young people, where she hoped to help guide them as they made therapeutic lifestyle changes.
Makelia worked as a Direct Care Staff and has worked at most of the Innercept campuses. In March 2017, she was offered a Lead Position at the Young Adult Intensive-Guided portion of the program. Since then, she has been gaining leadership skills and learning ways to help and improve the lives of others. While working at Innercept, Makeila plans continuing her education with a major in Psychology and finishing her education at North Idaho College.
In her spare time, she enjoys watching movies, reading books, and spending time with her 3 cats, Leo, Lily, and Patches. She also enjoys going out and exploring her new home in North Idaho.
