Special Education Teacher
Robert Jones earned his master’s degree in Education as well as a bachelor’s degree in Special Education. He has been supporting adolescents with development and behavioral challenges for the last 27 years. Robert has taught at the elementary through high school level including 10 years at North West Children’s Home. In his last education role, he spent much of his time focused on teaching life skills to high school students.
Robert was particularly drawn to working with students from his early years as a volunteer for Special Olympics. Robert found he easily made connections with the young people and his inner spirit was touched by his ability to help others grow in their own unique ways. He recently developed a flourishing Unified sports program for high school students in Washington. He was able to offer many students the opportunity to compete in soccer and basketball that wouldn’t ordinarily get that chance within the mainstream athletics department.
After working within the parameters of private insurance and the public-school system during his career to date, Robert finds working at Innercept very refreshing. He appreciates the dedication the team has in remaining true to the concept of Innercept’s philosophy and that students are able to work towards independence within the same program and support structure.
Robert comes from a large extended family and enjoys every minute he gets to spend with them, especially in the outdoors.
