Shawn graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in History Teaching from Brigham Young University in 2000. He went on to get a Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in History/Social Science from Central Washington University in 2003. After teaching in the public schools for 10 years and 4 years of administration in private school he realized that young people and their families needed more than simply academic training. He saw that the traditional education system did not address the major issues within the family system: their different personalities and behavior, their well-being, and healthy relationships; nor did it address the spiritual aspects that are so vital to a healthy life. He realized that in order to further his own development he needed to make a change.
He decided to “retire” from education in 2013 to pursue a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Gonzaga University, graduating in 2015. During this program Shawn joined Innercept as part of his practicum and internship and was immediately drawn to the high quality of the program. It not only addresses the major symptoms, but also focuses on creating a new and improved healthy person, while incorporating the entire family in the healing process; something that Shawn feels is vitally important.
Shawn is a native of Moses Lake, Washington and has happily relocated his family to northern Idaho in search of greener, more tree-filled pastures. Shawn, his wife and children enjoy doing anything involving the outdoors, sports, educational and uplifting.
