Timothy J. Carver, MFT

T.J. (Timothy James) graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Business from Whitworth University in 2014.  He enjoyed studying both subjects, but felt a pull toward the counseling and psychology field soon after he graduated.  T.J. decided to continue his education at Whitworth in 2015 and entered the Master of Arts program in Marriage and Family Therapy.  He quickly connected with the role and responsibility of being a therapist.  In addition to seeing a variety of clients at Whitworth’s MFT clinic, he experienced further growth and development as a clinician at both internship sites he was placed: Spokane Community College first, and then Excelsior Youth Center (a residential treatment center).  Although T.J. has a passion for working with couples and marriages, he found a stronger desire to help adolescent and young adult populations.

After he graduated his program in May of 2017, he joined the Innercept team for a number of reasons.  Like many others, he was drawn by the integrative approach in caring for residents and their families.  He sensed the program’s model would be more effective in helping the students long-term, compared to more traditional approaches to psychotherapy.  Innercept also made sense because he would be surrounded by a talented team of exciting clinicians to engage with.

T.J. is in the process of becoming licensed as a LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), and is intending to pursue a Ph.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology.  He and his wife live on the South Hill in Spokane, where they love the rich diversity of people and things to do.  T.J. is a big fan of Arsenal F.C., listening to excellent music, playing basketball, and inhabiting time with a friend or quality book.
