The Program Continuum

After admission, the resident and family are asked to clarify expectations related to emotional growth, life skills, education and/or vocation assistance, social skills, psychological and physical health, etc. With this picture in mind, a therapist is chosen that will match the needs of the student. A treatment plan is then developed that considers the whole person, utilizing an integrated approach.

Innercept offers a wide spectrum of services that provide for changing levels of functioning and growth. Depending on the residents age and identified goals, the resident is able to move through various levels of programming with the same treatment approach, so rapport and continuity of care is preserved.

Adolescent Intensive

Adolescents, ages 13 to their 18th birthday, enter into the Adolescent Intensive Program. This program is structured to include specialty therapeutic groups and activities, including expressive/art therapy, DBT group, nutrition and culinary classes, health education, psychotherapy process groups, life skills groups, mood regulation groups, Integral Life Practice group, sobriety group, etc. Activities include seasonal outings like skiing/snowboarding, kayaking, swimming, hiking and sailing. Students live in a family-style environment that is staffed with trained, caring staff. Staff coverage is 24 hours a day, with awake staff throughout the night.

Next steps...

An adolescent has the opportunity to move into a transition plan when they have achieved many of their initial treatment goals. Local high school or college courses can still be utilized if the opportunity matches long-term goals. The difference is that this level of programming (within the larger Adolescent Program) provides advanced possibilities for leadership and community interaction, such as a part-time employment, increased volunteering, and more independence as they prepare for their next transition (home or the Young Adult Program).

Adolescent Stabilization

At any point in a resident’s stay at Innercept, the resident can utilize the Stabilization track of the program. During involvement with this portion of the program, the resident will receive one to one support to assist with safety, refocus on short-term and long-term goals, and improve conflict resolution skills. The resident will focus on recovering from the emotional upheaval of the crisis situation and works in collaboration with the team to formulate a plan to maintain safety and effective functioning. This service is intended for short-term stabilization, after which the resident returns into full programming

Young Adult Intensive

Emerging Adults between the ages of 18 and 24 are initially admitted to the Intensive phase of the Young Adult Program. Based on the fulfillment of their treatment goals, residents can move quickly, or at a slower pace through this portion of the program. Young Adult Intensive is structured to include many specialty groups and activities, including expressive/art therapy, DBT group, nutrition and culinary classes, health education, psychotherapy process groups, life skills groups, mood regulation groups and activities, Integral Life Practice and sobriety maintenance, etc. Active outings and volunteerism, along with employment and college classes are all community-based. This program has 24 hour awake staff who do not reside at the homes .

Young Adult Transition

Once initial treatment goals are closer to being completed, residents enter the Transition phase of the Young Adult Program. This program is located near the downtown area, with separate male and female homes.  These homes are within walking distance to the community college, employment and volunteer opportunities and the administrative offices of Innercept where some therapeutic and educational services are provided. Residents are given a budget for their meals and personal needs, which allows for appropriate life skill development. Some group meals and social activities are planned to facilitate community within the program.  The Transition program has 24 hour awake staff available and  provides a path to independent living along with the opportunity to progress into Innercept’s Young Adult Aftercare Program.

Young Adult Stabilization

The Stabilization services are unmatched in the field of residential treatment for the young adult population. This service is intended for short-term stabilization, after which the resident returns into full programming. Many never utilize this resource as a Innercept resident. The Young Adult Stabilization service is located in a geographically remote setting and provides a low stimulus environment where residents can devote more time and energy to their individualized treatment goals. Twenty-four hour awake staff are available to the resident.  Community-based activities may be temporarily suspended while the individual stabilizes. Therapy sessions & medical assessment become more intensified and participation in programming can be tailored to the specific needs of the resident.

Guided Young Adult Intensive

In the Guided Young Adult Program, we offer an environment to deliver unique and specialized treatment for male and female young adults, ranging in age from 18 to 24. The location of the home is nestled amongst pine trees, on a non-motorized boating lake which offers a tranquil setting providing numerous therapeutic benefits. Additionally, the house is equipped with its own dock at the lake and during the summer, our small sail boat and kayaks can be used as part of our recreation and fitness. Not only does the Guided Young Adult program offer an environment conducive to healing and growth, but also has staff that is trained to understand the needs of each resident to help deliver services, with the direction and insight of the clinical treatment team.

Guided Young Adult Transition

In the Young Adult Intensive Transition Program we offer a unique living experience for young adults ranging in age from eighteen to twenty-four. Located in the beautiful resort town of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, we are within walking distance to local amenities and a variety of employment, volunteer and educational opportunities. Our staff members offer on-going supportive services and mentoring to encourage independent living skills, mood management skills, achieve a balance between physical health and fitness, maintain an organized environment, establish healthy relationship patterns, and build self-esteem and values. Typically our residents have begun to develop the usual coping skills necessary for age-appropriate life choices, but remain in need of clinical support and mentoring services.

Aftercare

In the Aftercare Program at Innercept, we offer a supportive independent living model focused on individualized programming for emerging adults ranging in age from eighteen to twenty-four.   Located in the beautiful resort town of Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, we are close to local amenities and a variety of employment, volunteer and educational opportunities.

This level of programming more closely approximates some of the more established transition programs yet offers vital access to the depth of clinical resources we provide as team members of Innercept, such as psychiatrists and therapists that work full-time with the residents versus community-based clinicians not woven into the culture of the programming, certified teachers and vocational experts, nurses, dietitians, and the crisis response team in place for the mitigation of emergent issues.  Also, opportunities for internal as well as external internships are available.  We have worked for over ten years on community relationships in the private sector with business owners who are compassionate and flexible with the students from our programs.

The therapeutic alliance established earlier in the resident’s progression through the program is an essential component to meeting their individual needs as they move into independent living.   Aftercare combines the therapeutic services that were provided by the teams of treatment professionals from earlier parts of the program, while increasing individualized community based support.  We offer on-going supportive services, targeted mentoring and task plans to encourage independent living skills.  Focus is also placed on developing mood management skills, achieving a balance with their physical health and diet, maintaining an organized environment, establishing healthy relationship patterns, and fostering self-esteem and values.  We emphasize enrollment in college courses, along with the maintenance of employment and/or volunteering as these are essential to the resident’s success.
